Mt. Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest mountain standing tall at 4,566m. It is located in Arusha National Park and offers some of the most spectacular scenery and wildlife diversity of any mountain in Tanzania.
Trekking Distance: ~ 6 km
Trekking Time: 4-5 hours
Drive from Arusha or Moshi to Momella Gate. Once at the gate, finish all park entrance procedures and then start the trek. Along the route, you will catch spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Momella lakes.
You will encounter animals such as Bushbucks, Cape Buffaloes, Giraffes, and Warthogs. Your trek will end up at Miriakamba Hut where you will spend the night.

Today, you will trek through a steep path along the ridge of the saddle. Catch amazing views of the Meru crater, the ash cone, and little Meru along the way.
You will also see wild animals and attractive wild flowers – common animals include buffalo and the black and white Colobus monkey. The trek ends at the Saddle Hut, where you will spend the night.
After resting at camp for sometime, you will head out to little Meru(3810m) for acclimatization and then head back down to Saddle hut for dinner and overnight stay.

Time: 13-14 hours
After a small snack and a hot drink, start your trek to the summit at around 1:30 am. Head up through the bushland to Rhino Point. From Rhino Point, head along the long northern ridge to the summit, which you will reach around sunrise.
On the descent, you return to the Saddle Hut, where lunch and a hot drink will be served. After some rest, continue to Mirikamba Hut, reaching it in the early afternoon. Here you can rest for some more time and then head out to Momella Gate and later on to Arusha or Moshi, where you will enjoy your summit success.
